Established under the scheme of Institute of Eminence (IoE), Centre for Atmospheric and Climate Sciences (CACS) at IIT Madras is dedicated towards studying the Earth system science and climate in Anthropocene. With a team of dedicated researchers and experts, we strive to understand the complex dynamics of the atmosphere and work towards strong fundamental and applied research to better understand and mitigate the impact of climate change on society.
The department and its researchers work closely with various scientific partners across the globe, resulting in numerous joint studies and publications. While it is difficult to maintain an exhaustive list of collaborations, the department has limited its shortlist to particularly close partnerships that involve multiple scientists and research groups.
The research activities of the Centre have been oriented towards achieving fundamental understanding of the various atmospheric and climatic processes which have immense relevance to society.
